The L9 is a metro line of the Barcelona Metro . The line currently has eight stations in the northern section, all of which are located in the tunnel. The line runs from La Sagrera station, in the northern district of Sant Andreu , to the city of Santa Coloma de Gramenet, which borders Barcelona to the north .

history

The first part of the line opened in December 2009, making it the youngest line on the Barcelona Metro. Most of the line is currently under construction. After completion, the line will have a total length of around 47 kilometers, of which only four kilometers will be above ground. That would make the line the longest underground metro line in Europe. In addition, the line's underground stations are the deepest in the Barcelona metro network. Plans called for the line to be fully operational by 2014. Line 10, which is also under construction, runs roughly halfway parallel to line 9 or two-story tunnels have been built so that they run one above the other.

On February 12, 2016, another section of line 9 under the name "L9 SUD" between Zona Universitària and Aeroport Terminal 1 was put into operation.

Special tariff to the airport

There is a special tariff for transport to and from Terminal T1 and T2. Single and multi-trip tickets are not valid for these stations, but day tickets are.
