Metrom Brașov was a Romanian football club from Brașov . He played a total of 20 years in the second Romanian soccer league, Divizia B , and was in the round of 16 for the Romanian Cup .

history

Metrom Brașov was founded in 1937 as a sports club for the Romanian arms company Metrom . In the 1939/40 season he played as Astra Metrom Brașov for the first time in the second Romanian football league, Divizia B , but withdrew after the first half of the season.

Since the third Romanian division was only played irregularly in the 1940s and 1950s, it took 23 years for Metrom to return to national gaming in 1963. As early as 1966, the club was promoted to Divizia B. There he fought from the start to stay in the league. This company succeeded four years in a row before the club had to relegate in 1971. After direct resurgence, he was able to complete the 1972/73 season in season 2 in sixth place. After two more placements in midfield, Metrom had to go to Divizia C again at the end of the 1975/76 season .

Metrom did not manage to rise again. The club was able to place itself in the front midfield in the following years, but did not make it to play the return to Divizia B. After ten years of relegation to the regional even followed Divizia D . Three years later, Metrom returned impressively to Divizia C in 1989 with a fourth place and rose again to Divizia B in 1991. There he secured fourth place in season 3 at the end of the 1991/92 season, which was the club's greatest success until then. Metrom also finished in the front midfield in the following years. At the end of the 1995/96 season , third place was the best placement in the club's history. The promotion to Divizia A was clearly missed with eleven points behind Oțelul Târgovişte . The club could no longer build on this success in the league. The club slipped into midfield. In the 2000/01 season he reached the second round of the Romanian Cup by beating first division Astra Ploiesti , but was eliminated there against FC Național Bucharest . After the end of the season, Metrom sold its license to relegated Cimentul Fieni and took his place in Divizia C. There the club finished the 2001/02 season in first place.
