The Cupa României in the 2000/01 season was the 63rd tournament for the Romanian Football Cup . The winner for the ninth time was defending champion Dinamo Bucharest , who won the final on June 16, 2001 against AS Rocar Bucharest . This qualified Dinamo for the UEFA Cup .

mode

The clubs of Divizia A only started in the round of the last 32 teams. In the eighth and quarter-finals, all games took place on a neutral seat. Only one game was played at a time, the semi-finals were decided in the first and second leg. If only one game took place and it was tied after 90 minutes or if no decision could be made in both games taking into account the away goals rule , an extension of 30 minutes followed, whereby the golden goal rule was applied. If after that there was still no decision, the decision was made on penalties .
