The Cupa României in 1940 was the seventh tournament for the Romanian Football Cup . The winner was Rapid Bucharest for the fourth time in a row . The final against Venus Bucharest had to be repeated three times, as three games had previously ended in a draw - even after extra time. As a result, the winner was not determined as usual in the middle of the year, but only in November.
mode
The clubs of Divizia A only started in the round of the last 32 teams. Initially, only one game was played. If this was a draw after 90 minutes, an extension of 30 minutes followed. Only when this also ended in a draw was a second leg played to bring about a decision. If the second leg ended in a draw after extra time, home rights were swapped until a winner was determined.
