The Cupa României in the 1948/49 season was the twelfth tournament for the Romanian Football Cup . Due to the changeover from championship and cup to the calendar year, the tournament was not held until autumn 1949. The winner was CSCA Bucharest , which was able to prevail in the final on December 18, 1949 against CSU Cluj . Defending champion ITA Arad was eliminated in the round of 32.

The clubs of Divizia A only got in the round of the last 32 teams and had to play away first. Only one game was played at a time. If this was a draw after 90 minutes, an extension of 30 minutes followed.
