CS Faur Bucharest was a Romanian football club from Bucharest . He played for a year in the highest football league in Romania, Divizia A , and reached the semi-finals of the Romanian Cup four times .
history
Faur Bucharest was founded in 1946 as a sports club of the Romanian machine factory "Melaxa" (today FAUR ). In season 1947-48, the club played under the name Metalochimic Bucharest in the second highest Romanian football league, the Divizia B . In the first year of promotion to the top flight, which succeeded Divizia A . At the end of the 1948/49 season , however, the immediate relegation followed.
In 1950 the name was changed to Metalul Bucharest and the club tried unsuccessfully to return to the House of Lords. In the following years Metalul slipped into midfield Divizia B and had in 1956 the transition to the third-highest league, the Divizia C , competing. There succeeded in the season 1957/58 under the name Titanii Bucharest the promotion to Divizia B, where the club first played as Metalul Titanii Bucharest , from 1960 again under the old name Metalul Bucharest . The club was able to place itself in the front midfield and sometimes even intervene in the fight for promotion to Divizia A.
After the club started as Metalurgist Bucharest from 1965 to 1967 , its most successful period followed at the beginning of the 1970s - not in Divizia B, but in the Romanian Cup . In the 1970/71 season , Metalul moved into the semifinals after victories against the first division clubs Universitatea Craiova , Petrolul Ploieşti and CFR Timişoara , where the off followed against Dinamo Bucharest despite a victory in the first leg. This success could be repeated in the following season . This time the first division side Steagul Roşu Braşov , FC Argeş Piteşti and AS Armata Târgu Mureş lost out before Metalul was stopped in the semifinals by eventual winners Rapid Bucharest .
A year later , Metalul was in the semi-finals for the third time in a row. After a success against first division team Universitatea Craiova , the club came in the last sixteen and quarter finals against first division UTA Arad and Petrolul Ploieşti only because of the rule that in the event of a tie, the lower class club moves into the next round. In the semifinals against the later cup winner Chimia Râmnicu Vâlcea , who also played in Divizia B , Metalul was only eliminated on penalties .
In the following years Metalul played for promotion to Divizia A, but without making the return to the House of Lords. The greatest successes were still in the Cup, where the club again reached the semifinals in the 1976/77 season . On the way there, the first division clubs FC Argeş Piteşti and FCM Reşița were turned off before Steaua Bucharest was a number too big.
In the early 1980s, the club fell out of the top tier and slipped into relegation battle. At the end of the 1984/85 season, relegation could no longer be prevented. After two years in Divizia C, Metalul managed to rise again in 1987, but was immediately relegated. After returning again in 1991, the club changed its name to CS Faur Bucharest . After three years in midfield, Faur was relegated to Divizia C for the last time in 1995. There he played until 2005, when Faur relegated to the regional league of the city of Bucharest and broke up shortly afterwards. In 2006, FC Titan 2006 Bucharest was founded by the players and coaches of the club .
