Ștefan Balint (born January 26, 1926 in Sighișoara , † 1976 ) was a Romanian football player . The midfielder denied 187 games in the Divizia A . In 1951, 1952 and 1953 he won the Romanian championship with CCA Bucharest .
Career
Balint entered the youth of Kolozsvári AC in 1941 . In 1945 he was promoted to the club's first team, which played as Ferar Cluj in Romania after the end of World War II . With his club he qualified in 1946 for participating in the highest league in the country, the Divizia A . There he was one of the regulars from the start. After the merger of Ferar with local rivals CFR Cluj , he stayed with the club. At the end of season 1948/49 he had with his team in the Divizia B dismount.
Balint left CFR in the summer of 1949 and joined CCA Bucharest . Since the cup competition in 1949 was only held in autumn due to the changeover of league operations to the calendar year, he was able to win his first title by winning the cup in the final over CSU Cluj . He was able to repeat this success with his team a year later . CCA became the most successful Romanian club in the early 1950s. In the following seasons Balint and his team were able to win the Romanian championship three times ( 1951 , 1952 and 1953 ) and two other cup wins ( 1951 and 1952 ). In the 1953 season, however, he lost his regular place and was only used in half of the matches.
After the stakes had continued to decline, Balint moved to Metalul Hunedoara in early 1956 in Divizia B. With his new club, he fought for promotion to the House of Lords. This was initially denied him with two second places in the seasons 1956 and 1957/58 . In the 1959/60 season he finished first with his team in season 3 and made the jump to Divizia A. There he rose, however, as the last of the 1960/61 season to accept immediate relegation. After he had to relegate with Hunedoara in the following season from Divizia B, he ended his career.
National team
Balint was once used in the Romanian national team. In the friendly against Poland , he played for one half on May 25, 1952, before being replaced by Andrei Mercea .
