The Cupa României in the 1988/89 season was the 51st tournament for the Romanian Football Cup . The winner was last year's winner for the 17th time, Steaua Bucharest , which was able to prevail in a new edition of the previous year's final on June 29, 1989 against Dinamo Bucharest . Since Steaua won the championship , Dinamo qualified for the European Cup Winners' Cup .
