history

Gloria Buzau was founded on June 16, 1971 as the football division of CSM Buzău. The team took over the majority of the players and the place of Metalul Buzau in the third highest Romanian league, the Divizia C . In his first season Gloria promotion to the Divizia B .

After several unsuccessful attempts to make the jump to the highest Romanian football league, Divizia A , succeeded as the first team from Buzau in 1978. After relegation in the 1978/79 season , Gloria 1980 rose again to Divizia B. In 1984 the company was promoted again. The 1984/85 season was the most successful in the club's history. In addition to the 5th place in Divizia A, Gloria also reached the semifinals of the Balkan Cup for club teams, but was eliminated there against Panionios Athens . After relegation in the following season, Gloria rose again at the end of the 1986/87 season .

After Gloria even slipped into Divizia C from 2000 to 2002, she returned to League 1 in 2007 . In the first year after promotion, the semi-finals of the Cupa României 2007/08 could be reached and the immediate relegation was barely prevented. The 2008/09 season ended the club as bottom of the table and was punished for not reaching the minimum number of points with a deduction of eight points for the following season. Since then, Gloria has played in League II and has been struggling with severe financial difficulties. In 2010, the relegation to Divizia C could only be prevented due to the forced relegation of FCM Bacau . In the summer of 2010, then coach Nicolae Anton gave up his post to Mihai Ciobanu and returned to the club's youth division.

In the summer of 2016, the club went bankrupt and a successor club called FC Buzău started playing in Liga V.
