The Cupa României in the 1968/69 season was the 31st tournament for the Romanian Football Cup . The winner was Steaua Bucharest , which was able to prevail in the final on June 22, 1969 against defending champion Dinamo Bucharest . As a result, Steaua qualified for the European Cup Winners' Cup .

The clubs of Divizia A only got in the round of the last 32 teams and had to play away first. In the eighth and quarter-finals, all games took place on a neutral seat. Only one game was played at a time. If this was a draw after 90 minutes, an extension of 30 minutes followed. If after that there was still no decision, the lower class team advanced. If both played in the same league, a replay took place on. In the sixteenth finals, in the event of a tie after extra time, the away team went on one round. The two semi-finals were played back and forth.
