Bujor Hălmăgeanu (born February 14, 1941 in Timișoara , Kingdom of Romania , † November 23, 2018 ) was a Romanian football player . He played a total of 228 games in the Divizia A . In 1968, the winning center-back with Steaua Bucharest , the Romanian championship.
Career
Hălmăgeanu began playing football with Victoria Timișoara in his hometown. In 1958 he moved to local rivals Știința Timișoara , where he came into the first team squad in 1960. In September 1960, he denied there his first game in the Divizia A . In early 1962, Steaua Bucharest signed him . After teething problems, he was used more often in the 1962/63 season and won the runner-up behind Dinamo Bucharest with his team . In early 1964 he switched to Petrolul Ploieşti before returning to Steaua in the summer of 1965. After a twelfth place in the 1965/66 season, he established himself in the following years with his club at the top of Divizia A. After winning the cup in 1967 he was able to follow with his team the championship in 1968 and again a cup success in 1969 . In the summer of 1973 he left Steaua and ended after one season for Dinamo Slatina in Divizia B his playing career.
National team
Hălmăgeanu played a total of 17 games for the Romanian national team . He made his debut on May 2, 1965 in the World Cup qualifier against Turkey . He came in four of the six qualifying games and missed the World Cup participation with his team as a group third. After playing in the friendly against Germany, who later became runner-up, on June 1, 1966, he was in the formation for the first European Championship qualifier against Switzerland on November 2, 1966 , but was subsequently not considered. After two friendly matches in the spring of 1968, he returned to the national team in early 1969. In the second half of the year he was one of the Romanian team that was able to qualify for the 1970 World Cup. In the squad of national coach Angelo Niculescu for the tournament in Mexico, he was not included. After the tournament he was rarely used and played his last international match on May 17, 1972 in the quarter-finals of the 1972 European Championship against Hungary .

Hălmăgeanu had lost a third of his lungs due to a serious illness. He died in November 2018 at the age of 77.
