The clubs of Divizia A only started in the round of the last 32 teams (3rd round). From the round of 16 onwards, all games - apart from the final, which was traditionally played in Bucharest - took place in a neutral place. Only one game was played at a time. If this was a draw after 90 minutes, an extension of 30 minutes followed. If after that there was still no decision, the decision was made on penalties .
