Nicolae Claudiu Stanciu (born May 7, 1993 in Alba Iulia ) is a Romanian football player who is currently under contract with Slavia Prague .

Career

In 2008, at the age of 15, Stanciu made his debut in Liga II for Unirea Alba Iulia . After the rise of Alba Iulia, Stanciu made his professional debut in Liga 1 for Unirea on May 1, 2010 against Steaua Bucharest . In May 2010 he completed trial training at Chelsea FC and VfB Stuttgart . A planned transfer to the Stuttgart team failed due to the transfer demands.

For the 2011/12 season Nicolae Stanciu moved to FC Vaslui . Two years later he joined record champions Steaua Bucharest, with whom he became Romanian champions directly in the first season. In the following year, the club won the national cup in addition to the championship title.

In August 2016 Stanciu moved to Belgium for RSC Anderlecht . On January 19, 2018, he moved to Sparta Prague .

National team

In the run-up to the 2016 European Football Championship in France, Nicolae Stanciu was officially appointed to the national team for the first time and scored the 1-0 winner in his first game against Lithuania on March 23, 2016. He was included in the Romanian EM squad and scored one goal each in three other preparation games. In the EM opening game against the hosts he was in the starting line-up and after a foul on him in the penalty area Romania was able to equalize to 1-1 with a penalty. A few minutes later, however, he was replaced injured. The game ended 2-1 for France. Only in the third game against Albania he was used again, but the team lost for the second time and was eliminated from the tournament.
