Tomáš Souček (born February 27, 1995 in Havlíčkův Brod ) is a Czech football player who plays for West Ham United .

Club career

Souček comes from the youth of Slavia Prague and was loaned to Viktoria Žižkov in 2015 . He made his professional football debut on March 8, 2015 in a 2-1 home defeat by Viktoria Žižkov against FC Fastav Zlín . He scored his first goal on August 16, 2015 in the 4-0 home win of Slavia Prague against FC Vysočina Jihlava .

Souček prevailed in the first team of Slavia Prague in 2015 and played 29 of 30 league games in the first Czech division in 2015/16 . In the 2016/17 season , however, he lost his position in the first team and Souček played only 93 minutes in three months between September and December 2016. It was therefore loaned to Slovan Liberec in the winter .

On May 9, 2018, he played the final of the 2017/18 Czech Cup with Slavia Prague against FK Jablonec . Here he was able to win his first title. The following year he became the first Czech champion as an important pillar of the team.

On January 29, 2020, Souček joined the Premier League team West Ham United on a loan deal until the end of the 2019/20 season , with the option to make the transfer permanent in the summer.

National team

After representing the Czech Republic in several youth selections, he made his senior national team debut on November 15, 2016 in a friendly against Denmark . He was represented in all three games of the Czech U21 team at the 2017 U21 European Championship .

He made his first competitive game for the senior team on June 10, 2017 against Norway in qualifying for the 2018 World Cup .
