Belgian soccer supercup
The Belgian Football Supercup has been a competition that has been held since 1979, in which the Belgian champions and the Belgian cup winners of the previous season meet in a single game at the beginning of a season . If a club wins the double , it competes against the cup finalist. This was last the case in 1996, when double winners Club Brugge beat cup finalists Cercle Brugge.
The games at a glance
** In 1980 and 1982 THOR Waterschei won the cup. However, since the club had amateur status, the respective cup finalists competed.
*** Due to heavy rain, the game was abandoned on July 22nd when the score was 0-0 after the first half. The game was played again on December 22nd.
