Tudorel Stoica (born September 7, 1954 in Brăila ) is a former Romanian football player . He denied 373 games in the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A .
Player career
society
Stoica's career began with his hometown club Politehnica Galați, where in 1971 he moved up to the squad of the first team that played in Divizia B (now Liga II ) at the time. In the course of the 1972/73 season he developed into a regular player and was able to book relegation with his team. In the following season, a place in midfield jumped out. In 1974 he left the club and moved to local rivals FCM Galați in Divizia A (now Liga 1 ). There he was hardly used and had to relegate with the club at the end of the season .
Nevertheless, the opportunity arose for Stoica to switch to Steaua Bucharest and thus to a top Romanian team. In the first year he prevailed as a regular player and won the double of championship and cup victory with his new club , although he was not used in the final against his former club CSU Galați. In the following year, the team was able to win the championship ( 1977/78 ) and the cup ( 1978/79 ) again, but had to lag behind their rivals Dinamo Bucharest and Universitatea Craiova at the beginning of the 1980s .
It was not until 1985 that Steaua reported back with the championship and the subsequent cup victory . In the following years, Stoica belonged to the most successful team in Romanian club football. In 1986 he won the European Cup with his club , but was not used in the final against FC Barcelona . In February 1987 he was a member of the team that won the European Super Cup . During this period, Steaua won five championship titles in a row and won the cup four times. This phase ended when the club reached the European Cup final again , but where the club lost 4-0 to AC Milan .
Stoica was always part of the team during his time at Steaua. In the 1988/89 season, however , he was used less and moved to RC Lens in the French Ligue 2 in the summer of 1989 . After only one year he returned to Steaua, but only came to one job in the 1990/91 season and ended his career.
National team
Stoica played 15 games for the Romanian national soccer team . For the first time, the then national coach Constantin Cernăianu used him in the friendly against the Soviet Union on October 14, 1979. Even under Cernăianu's successor Valentin Stănescu , he initially only came into play sporadically, before becoming a regular player in 1981 and was used in the last qualifying games for the 1982 World Cup .
When Stănescu was replaced by Mircea Lucescu after missing the World Cup qualification , Stoica was no longer considered. He had to wait almost four years until August 7, 1985 before Lucescu used him in the friendly against the Soviet Union. It was only Emerich Jenei from November 1986 to build on Stoica's services, whom he had previously also under his wing as the club coach of Steaua Bucharest . It was used in some qualifying games for the 1988 European Championship . Stoica played his last international match against Austria on November 18, 1987 , when Romania narrowly missed qualifying for the European Championship with a 0-0 draw.
Coaching career
After the end of his active career, Stoica was twice assistant coach to Emerich Jenei at his former club Steaua Bucharest in the early 1990s . He later settled in Belgium and worked as a scout for RSC Anderlecht .
