Alexandru "Piți" Apolzan (born February 6, 1927 in Sibiu , † December 23, 1982 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian football player . He was in 268 games of the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A , used.

Career as a player

Apolzan started playing soccer in his hometown Sibiu near Șoimii Sibiu . During the Second World War he moved to Bucharest, where he joined the locomotive manufacturer Rogifer in 1943 , which changed its name to 23 August in 1945 . 1946 moved to Apolzan CFR Bucharest and arrived there on 15 September 1946 his first appearance in the Divizia A . In 1949 CCA Bucharest (later Steaua Bucharest) became aware of him and signed him. In the 13 years that he played for CCA, Apolzan was able to win the championship six times and the cup five times , including twice the double . In the fall of 1961 he ended his career.

National team

From 1949 to 1960 Apolzan played 22 games for the Romanian national football team , but without being able to score a goal. He made his debut on October 23, 1949 against Albania .

Career as a coach

After the end of his active career, Apolzan was active at Steaua Bucharest from 1962 to 1967 in the children's and youth sector. He later worked as a coach for several lower-class clubs in Câmpulung , Caracal , Slatina and Mija , before he had to retire in 1973 for health reasons.
