Yŏnggwang Metro Station

The metro station Yŏnggwang (영광 / 榮光 = brilliant fame) is a subway station on the Chŏllima line of the Pyongyang Metro , the capital of North Korea . The station was built in 1987 and has a connection to Pyongyang Central Station as well as to stops of the Pyongyang tram and the Pyongyang trolleybus . The station is a frequent end point of tourist underground journeys for foreign visitors.

Art and propaganda

The station is characterized by a splendid interior design, consisting of marble , chandeliers and frescoes . Behind the train tracks there are two wall mosaics, each 80 meters long; At the head end of the station, another 17 × 7.7 meter mosaic shows Mount Paektusan .

The lamps and light installations in the train station refer to fireworks and flying confetti at the victory celebration at the end of the Korean War .
