The Hauptbahnhof Pyongyang is the main station of the North Korean capital Pyongyang . It is located on Sosong Street in the downtown Chung-guyŏk district .
history
Originally built in 1906 in Korea under Japanese rule with state funds, the two-story station building made of red brick was destroyed in the Korean War and rebuilt in 1953.
On the roof of the building there are inscriptions with the texts "Long live the great leader, Comrade Kim Jong-un !" And "Long live the glorious Labor Party of Korea !"
Transport links
The station is the starting point for the P'yŏngbu, P'yŏngnam, Pyongna and P'yŏngŭi railway lines . The P'yŏngŭi line goes to Sinŭiju , the P'yŏngbu line theoretically runs through Seoul to Busan , but the last stop is before the demilitarized zone in Kaesŏng . Pyongyang to Namp'o also operates the Pyongnam Line from Pyongyang Central Station. The station also offers a connection to the Pyongyang Metro via the Yŏnggwang subway station . There is also a stop for the Pyongyang trolleybus and the Pyongyang tram . It is now also possible to take a taxi .
To the north, there is the train station Sop'yŏngyang (or West Pyongyang) and the railway station Pot'onggang while to the south the station Taedonggang reached.
Remarks
The Korean State Railways have their headquarters in the station building, and the Pyongyang Railway Museum is opposite the main station .
