Miami Ink - Tattoos for Life (Original Title: Miami Ink ) is an American reality show produced by TLC , in which people are tattooed in front of the camera . The show ran from 2005 to 2008.

The studio in which the television series was recorded belongs to the two tattoo artists Ami James and Chris Núñez. Other artists who appeared regularly were Chris Garver, Darren Brass and Yoji Harada. Californian tattoo artist Kat von D (Katherine von Drachenberg), who specializes in tattooing portraits, joined the team during the course of the first season, but left the show again in May 2007 - according to an entry on her Myspace page - due to internal reasons Inconsistencies.

Kat Von D is part of a new show called LA Ink - Tattoos for Life , which is filmed in her newly founded tattoo shop "High Voltage Tattoo".

Each episode is about a number of people who want a tattoo based on their backstories. These are mostly illustrated by flashbacks in the form of pictures brought along and by the stories of the respective customers. The broadcast is usually commented off- screen by Ami James . The song on the show is called "Funky Kingston" by Toots and the Maytals .

In order to be tattooed by the respective artists on the show, one had to apply on the website of the TLC station.

On March 26, 2019 , Yoji Harada passed away surprisingly and unexpectedly.
