Michael Žantovský
Michael Žantovský (* 1949 in Prague ) is a Czech psychologist, journalist, writer, translator and diplomat.
Žantovský studied psychology at the Charles University in Prague and 1968/69 at McGill University . After graduating (MA 1973), he conducted research at the Psychiatrické centrum Praha (PCP). In 1980 he left the institute and worked as a freelance poet and translator; In 1988/89 Žantovský was the Prague correspondent for Reuters news agency .
During the Velvet Revolution , Žantovský was one of the founders of the Czech Citizens' Forum. In 1990 he became spokesman and political advisor to President Václav Havel . In 1992 Žantovský went to the USA as the Czech ambassador . In 1997 the Občanská Demokratická alliance elected him chairman. In 2002 he returned to the Foreign Service and from 2003 served as ambassador to Israel; from 2009 to 2015 he was ambassador to London .
