The main themes of his painting are symbolic representations of human feelings and experiences on the one hand and the examination of our threatened environment on the other. The universe and the poetry of the landscape are also essential themes in his artistic work. His works are shown in private and public art collections as well as in international exhibitions and publications. Böhme is a member of the Konstanz Art Association, the Esslingen Artists' Guild and Inter Art Stuttgart, and the only German elected “Fellow Member” (“exemplary interpreter of Space Art”) of the International Association of Astronomical Artists (IAAA).
