Michael Baigent

Michael Feran Meritxell Baigent (born February 27, 1948 in Nelson , New Zealand , † June 17, 2013 in Brighton , England ) was a British- New Zealand author . Most of his works were non-fiction books with pseudo-historical and conspiracy theoretical content. His best-known work was the co-authorship of Henry Lincoln's The Holy Grail and His Heirs , who prepared the modern legend of Rennes-le-Château for a mass audience and whose theses are rejected by large parts of historical scholarship. Richard Leigh also served as co-author in part .

Life

Baigent studied psychology at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch ( BA ). Since 1976 he lived with his family in England. There he earned an MA in Mysticism and Religious Experience from the University of Kent in 1999 ; the title of his work was A Renaissance symbol: the meaning of the triangle containing the Hebrew name of God .

In his books and documentaries, Baigent dealt with the history of the Knights Templar , Freemasonry and the early history of Christianity .

In 1983 he married his wife Jane, with whom he had two daughters. His wife's previous marriage had a stepson and stepdaughter.

Baigent died of a cerebral haemorrhage in June 2013 at the age of 65 .
