Michael Braun (journalist, 1952)
Michael Braun (* 1952 in Wermelskirchen ) is a German journalist and moderator. He is also the state correspondent in Frankfurt for Deutschlandfunk in the field of economics. Before that, the studied historian , philosopher and sociologist worked for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and moderated the ZDF midday magazine for ten years .
Life
He studied history , philosophy and sociology in Bonn and received his doctorate in 1979 on the subject of "History of Luxembourg Social Insurance". He worked in the business department of the Hessischer Rundfunk and moderated the ZDF midday magazine between 1989 and 1999 . At the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung he worked in the New Media department. In Zurich he was the deputy editor-in-chief of the “European Business Channel”. Together with Brigitte Scholtes, he founded the “Business Report” editorial office, which she has been running since his retirement. At Deutschlandfunk, his focus was on reporting from the Frankfurt studio on the course and consequences of the financial crisis from 2007 onwards . Since 2003, Braun has worked on 66 programs for the Deutschlandfunk magazine Background , which appears daily, partly as the sole author.
