The ZDF Mittagsmagazin is an information magazine of ZDF , which since 1989 is broadcast. It is broadcast live Monday to Friday in the even calendar weeks (before 2018 in the odd weeks) on the channels ZDF, Das Erste , tagesschau24 and (since June 2018) rbb as part of the joint morning program , alternating with the ARD midday magazine . The main moderator is Jana Pareigis . She moderates the show alternately with Andreas Wunn .

As part of the fall of the Berlin Wall , ARD and ZDF wanted to inform viewers not only about the current situation in the morning and evening, but also between noon and afternoon. One of the founding presenters was Susanne Conrad , who moderated and shaped the program (with interruption) until 2015. In 1998 the transmission time was extended from 45 to 59 minutes. The Mittagsmagazin was broadcast from 1989 to 2018 in the ZDF-heute-Nachrichten-Studio from Lerchenberg in Mainz ; from October 21, 2009 like all ZDF news programs from a virtual studio. In December 2016 the studio design was renewed.
The ZDF Mittagsmagazin has been broadcast from Berlin since April 2018 and has been produced from the ZDF capital city studio ever since . The new studio is shared with the ARD lunch magazine .

The program starts at 1 p.m. with a topic overview, after which the approximately two and a half minute news overview starts today Xpress presented by an editor from the heute editorial team. This is usually followed by the topics dominating the headlines, until around 1:15 p.m. another two or three articles, including by a mima reporter, are shown. Around 1:30 p.m., a talk guest will talk about a specific topic of the day. Then celebrity news is shown in the scene . A film from the “mima-Menschen” series will then be broadcast before the sports block with a sports editor in the studio starts at around 1:45 pm. At 1:50 p.m., the meteorologist presents the weather forecast , before the farewell takes place at around 1:58 p.m.

The Mittagsmagazin had its own editorial team in the ZDF broadcasting center in Mainz until March 2018 . Most recently, editor-in-chief was Norbert Lehmann from 2011 to 2018.
With the move to Berlin in April 2018, the "Tagesmagazine Berlin" editorial team was founded, which is responsible for the ZDF morning magazine in addition to the midday magazine . Its editor-in-chief is Andreas Wunn.
