Criticism of secondary employment

In a report by the NDR media magazine Zapp in June 2009, Michael Antwerpes' extensive sideline activity was exposed and criticized. The magazine asked whether employees on public television can still report independently on companies, sports officials, etc., for whom they have advertised as paid speakers in advance at private events.

According to NDR, Michael Antwerpes had himself marketed by the REX agency at a price of around 8,000 euros per appearance. The contribution met with a wide range of media coverage. After further research by the Berliner Zeitung , there were various conflicts between Michael Antwerp's sideline and his independent reporting. This alleged conflict of interest has never been verified.
