Michael Chaplin

Michael John Chaplin (born March 7, 1946 in Santa Monica , California ) is an American actor .

Life

Michael Chaplin was born in 1946 as the second child and eldest son from the fourth marriage of actor Charles Chaplin to Oona O'Neill . Michael Chaplin has seven other siblings; Geraldine , Josephine , Victoria , Eugene , Jane , Annette and Christopher . The half-siblings, Norman, Charles junior and Sydney come from his father's earlier marriages .

At the age of six, Michael Chaplin starred in the film Limelight, directed by his father . In 1957 Charles Chaplin brought him back in front of the camera for his film A King in New York . At the age of 19 he published the book I Couldn't Smoke the Grass on my Father's Lawn , in which he describes his life in the shadow of the famous father. He later appeared in several autobiographical films and documentaries about Charles Chaplin.

Michael Chaplin is the President of the Fondation du Musee Charlie Chaplin . Together with the organization, he planned a museum in his father's former residence in Switzerland , which was grandly opened on April 16, 2016.

Michael Chaplin is married to the writer Patrice Chaplin. The couple have two daughters, Carmen Chaplin and Dolores Chaplin .
