Josephine Chaplin

Josephine Hannah Chaplin (born March 28, 1949 in Santa Monica , California ) is an American actress .

Life

Josephine Chaplin was born as the second daughter of the fourth marriage of actor Charles Chaplin to Oona O'Neill . Josephine Chaplin has seven other siblings: Geraldine Chaplin , Michael Chaplin , Victoria Chaplin , Eugene Chaplin , Jane Chaplin , Annette Chaplin , Christopher Chaplin . The half-siblings Norman Chaplin, Charles Chaplin junior and Sydney Chaplin come from earlier marriages of her father .

Even as a toddler, Chaplin stood in front of the camera for her father in his film Limelight . Later she lives and works mainly in France . In 1972 she starred in the Italian-French co-production Pasolini's maddened stories alongside Hugh Griffith and Laura Betti . In 1974 she stood in front of the camera with Klaus Kinski and Andreas Mannkopff for a film about Jack the Ripper .

In 1969, Chaplin married the Greek Nikolas Sistovaris in Switzerland for the first time. In 1971 their son Charlie was born.

From 1977 until his death in 1983, Chaplin was married to the French actor and director Maurice Ronet . Ronet and Chaplin appeared together in the 1972 film Deadly Headlines , and in 1981 she starred in the Edgar Allan Poe adaptation Ligeia under his direction . Their son Julien, born in 1980, emerged from the marriage.

In 1989, Chaplin married the archaeologist Jean-Claude Gardin (1925–2013). Their son Arthur was born in 1987.
