Michael Ehrhart (born November 18, 1953 in Landau ; † September 10, 2017 in Kandel ) was a German advertising photographer , portrait photographer and photo designer .

Life

Michael Ehrhart completed a degree in graphic design at the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences , gained experience as a camera assistant to Gotthart Eichhorn in Frankfurt and as a photo assistant in Paris and then founded his own studio in Frankfurt. He combined his enthusiasm with the ability to solve complex tasks. He quickly became a photographer who also realized very elaborate productions.

He used his artistic freedom by applying different styles. Some of his photos are therefore classics in advertising photography, for example his series for Milka , Condor , Fiat Panda and Rubbelpoker. Especially his surrealistic photos for Die Bahn , Club Med and Citroën became unforgettable pioneers. Many of his photos were awarded and presented in exhibitions.

In 1991 he received a teaching position at the Saar College of Fine Arts in the field of design and portrait photography. For an illustrated book presented at the Ball des Sports in February 2008, he photographed 41 athletes from their private side in places where they like to be. Among them were Heide Ecker-Rosendahl , Uli Hoeness , Joachim Deckarm , Michael Gross , Franziska van Almsick , Dirk Nowitzki , Katja Seizinger and Steffi Graf .

He lived and later worked in Kandel . He shifted his focus from advertising to the journalistic field. He dealt with humans and their faces as well as the earth and its landscapes. He used photography as a multi-layered inventory of reality, as a play with light and as a connection with life.
