Michael F. "Mike" Doyle (born August 5, 1953 in Swissvale , Allegheny County , Pennsylvania ) is an American politician . Since 1995 he has represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Michael Doyle attended Swissvale Area High School until 1971 . He then studied until 1975 at the State College of Pennsylvania State University . Politically, he first became a member of the Republicans . He later switched to the Democratic Party . From 1979 to 1994 he worked for the State Senator Frank Pecora . Since 1982 he has also worked for an insurance company.

In the 1994 congressional election , Doyle was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 18th  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Rick Santorum on January 3, 1995 . As he was re-elected in all subsequent elections, including the one in 2016, he can continue to exercise his mandate today. His latest legislative period runs until January 3, 2019. Since 2003, he has represented the 14th district of his state there as the successor to William J. Coyne . After the reallocation of the districts in Pannsyvania, Doyl ran in the 2018 election in the new 18th District. There he was re-elected unopposed.

During his time as a congressman, the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 , the Iraq war and the military operation in Afghanistan fell . He is or was a member of the Committee on Energy and Trade as well as two sub-committees and six Congressional Caucuses . Michael Doyle was an opponent of the Iraq war from the start.
