Michael Franck (born March 16, 1609 in Schleusingen , † probably September 24, 1667 in Coburg , buried September 27, 1667) was a German Protestant hymn poet .

Life

Franck first learned the bakery trade, but soon found great interest in music. During the Thirty Years' War he left the county of Henneberg and settled as a teacher in Coburg. Here he was accepted into the Elbe Swan Order by Johann Rist in 1659 .

From his pen come u. a. Be faithful to God, keep his covenant (Evangelisches Gesangbuch Baden-Elsaß-Pfalz 587) and oh how fleeting, oh how futile is human life! ( Evangelisches Gesangbuch 528 und Gotteslob (1975) 657).
