Michael Güntner (born June 19, 1973 in Fulda ) has been State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure since March 2019 .

education

In 1992 Güntner graduated from Freiherr-vom-Stein-Gymnasium Fulda . This was followed by vocational training as a banker until 1994 . From 1993 to 2000 Güntner was a helper in the extended disaster control service of the Fulda district . From 1994 to 1995 he first studied business administration at the University of Passau . However, in 1995 he switched to studying law at the same university. In 1997 he moved to the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and took his first exam in Cologne in 1999 . Güntner was a research assistant at the Institute for Public Law at the University of Bonn from 2000 to 2002 , before he successfully passed the second state examination in Koblenz in 2003 and obtained his doctorate in law at the University of Bonn . From 2003 to 2004 he completed postgraduate studies at Oxford University , which he completed with a Magister Juris (M.Jur.).

2004 Güntner speaker in the Federal Ministry of the Interior in the Department of Civil and Civil Protection . In 2005 he became personal assistant to the Secretary General of the CDU in Germany , at that time Volker Kauder . With this he switched to the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in the same year, where Kauder was chairman of the parliamentary group and he was his office manager until 2012 . In 2012 Güntner returned to the ministerial bureaucracy and became a sub-department head in the central department of the Federal Ministry of the Interior. From 2014 to 2019 he was parliamentary group director of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group before becoming State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure in March 2019.

Private

Güntner is married and has one son. Since 1995 he has been a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Oeno-Danubia Passau and later also of the KDStV Ripuaria Bonn , both in the CV .
