Michael Gleich (born January 13, 1960 in Lübeck ) is a German journalist and book author and lives in Berlin. In spring 2011, Picus Verlag Vienna published his book “Drache auf tönernen Füssen. The Discovery of Individuals in China ”. For his report “Rodeo in Rancagua. Chile in the year of the decision ”he was awarded the Egon Erwin Kisch Prize in 1988 . He also appears as an author of television reports and television documentaries and as an author of German-language dubbed versions of foreign feature films.

Life

Michael Gleich grew up in northern Germany and studied political science and German at the University of Hamburg . As a doctoral student, he conducted research in South America on the subjects of authoritarianism , regime change and democratization . His dissertation analyzes the scope of the democratic opposition in Chile under the dictatorship of General Augusto Pinochet . In 1991, Gleich attended the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung . As a freelance reporter, he specialized in the journalistic genre of narrative magazine reporting and wrote for TransAtlantik , Hamburger Morgenpost , Hamburger Rundschau , Frankfurter Allgemeine Magazin, Die Woche , Wochenpost and Der Tagesspiegel . He also shot television reports, documentaries and magazine articles for Sat.1 , 3sat and ARTE . Between 1995 and 2000 he was an editor at the television production company Spektrum TV, which belongs to the Georg von Holtzbrinck publishing group, and was in charge of the report series “24 hours”, a commissioned production by Sat.1. In 2000 he changed the industry and became production manager of the feature film dubbing at Berliner Synchron . Since 2004 he has been working again as a freelance writer for print media and TV production companies, as well as an editor and copy editor. He also writes German-language dialogue books for film dubbing and is involved in the development of documentary and fictional film material.
