Michael Hardt (Designer)

Michael B. Hardt (born March 13, 1951 in Nettetal-Kaldenkirchen ) is a German - French designer and university professor.

Life

After graduating from high school , he studied with Oskar Holweck at the Werkkunstschule Saarbrücken from 1970–74 , then communication design with Robert Sessler at the Saarland University of Design. In 1977 he founded the company HardtDesign (today inst_at GmbH) with Christina Fuchs.

Hardt was President of the Bureau of European Design Associations (BEDA, European umbrella organization of national designer associations) from 1991–94. In this capacity he designed u. a. the standardization of European design protection law. He was also Vice President of the International Council of Graphic Design Associations (ICOGRADA) from 1995 to 1997 . In 2002 the National Academy of the Arts in Bergen (Norway) awarded him the title of professor. From 2002–06 he held the chair for visual communication there .

In 2009 Hardt emigrated to Sweden. He teaches as a visiting professor at the University of Central Sweden in Sundsvall. He lives and works in a village in Ångermanland .
