Michael Hegemann (born March 19, 1977 in Bottrop-Kirchhellen ) is a German handball player . He is 1.93 m tall and weighs 99 kg.

Hegemann, who plays for TUSEM Essen and has number 3 on his back for the German national handball team, studied for elementary school teaching and has just started his legal clerkship here. It can be used in the left rear area or as the center of the rear area.

Michael Hegemann played for VfL Gladbeck until 1997 . Then he moved to SG Solingen in the 2nd handball Bundesliga . After SG Solingen rose to the 1st handball league in 2000  , he moved to HSG Düsseldorf in 2001 . After he was promoted with the HSG Düsseldorf in 2004, he switched to VfL Gummersbach in 2005 . In 2006 he joined the TBV Lemgo . In summer 2008 he switched to GWD Minden . In the summer of 2009 he left the club for private reasons and headed for Düsseldorf. In 2012 he signed a contract with Bergischer HC . He has been playing for TUSEM Essen since summer 2014. In the summer of 2017, Hegemann took over the position of assistant coach at TUSEM Essen, for which he is still available as a stand-by player.

Michael Hegemann reached 5th place with the German national handball team in 2006 at the European Championship in Switzerland and took part in the 2005 World Championship in Tunisia . In 2007 he became world champion with Germany , but was not used. But since he was part of the squad, he also got a gold medal.
