Michael Heise (Economist)

Michael Hanns Heise (* 1956 in Memmingen ) is a German economist .

Life

Michael Heise is a son of Hanns Horst Heise and spent his school days in Germany, Great Britain and the USA. After graduating from the Schiller High School in Cologne and doing military service in Schleswig-Holstein , Heise studied economics at the University of Cologne from 1977 to 1982 . In 1982 he received his diploma and became a research assistant at the political science seminar at the University of Cologne and assistant to Hans Karl Schneider . He held his own seminars in the field of macroeconomics and obtained his doctorate in 1986. rer. pole. at the University of Cologne with the subject "Labor Demand and Employment - Theoretical Basics and Empirical Research for the Manufacturing Industry in the Federal Republic of Germany", published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht , 1987. After his doctorate, Heise became a member of the scientific staff of the Advisory Council for the assessment of macroeconomic issues Development and was Secretary General there from 1989 to 1995.

From 1995 to 2002 he was chief economist at DG Bank and head of research and economics at DZ Bank . At the end of 2002, Heise became chief economist at Allianz AG and the associated Dresdner Bank . After the sale of Dresdner Bank to Commerzbank AG , Heise moved to Allianz SE as chief economist in Munich.

Heise had lectureships at the European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel and is honorary professor at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

Heise is a member of numerous committees, a member of the supervisory board of Allianz Lebensversicherung AG and he heads the committee for economic issues of the Confederation of German Employers' Associations .

Heise has been writing for the FAZ since 1995 , including the column "Europlatz Frankfurt", and at irregular intervals u. a. for the Wall Street Journal , the Financial Times and various other German daily newspapers.

In 2015, Michael Heise was named “Forecaster of the Year” for the third time since 2002 in the annual evaluation of economic forecasts from over 50 institutions by the Süddeutsche Zeitung and previously the Financial Times Deutschland. The forecasts of the German gross domestic product and the individual components of consumption, export and investment are evaluated.
