Michael J. Anderson
Michael John Anderson (born October 31, 1953 in Denver , Colorado ) is an American actor , best known for his role as "Man from Another Place" in David Lynch's television series Twin Peaks , the epilogue and prologue to the series, Twin Peaks - The film , and Samson from the HBO series Carnivàle . He has a genetic bone disease and was unable to walk in the first 20 years of his life.
Professional career
Anderson starred in four Twin Peaks episodes. The man from another location wears a red suit and speaks in an unusual way. Anderson used phonetic backward speaking as a secret language with his junior high school friends and then played the character in Twin Peaks who uses the same method of speaking. He first appeared in Special Agent Dale Cooper's cryptic dream inside a red room about the murder of Laura Palmer. Anderson's character also starred in the subsequent Twin Peaks film . His character was much more vicious there than in the series.
Anderson impersonated a normal-sized man in Lynch's Mulholland Drive - Street of Darkness , which was made possible through the use of a prosthesis . From 2003 to 2005 Anderson was represented in the television series Carnivàle .
