Michael Kiedel (born December 23, 1975 in Stuttgart ) is a German swimmer and Olympic participant. The 1.94 m tall and 93 kg heavy athlete started for VfL Sindelfingen .
Kiedel's year of success was 1998, when he was able to place several times at German championships:
- DM: MEISTER 200 and 400 m freestyle
- DM short course: runner-up 400 m freestyle, 3rd place 200 m freestyle
As a member of the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay , he won two EM medals:
- EM 1999 in Istanbul : Gold in 7: 19.63 minutes ahead of Great Britain (silver in 7: 19.91 minutes) and Russia (bronze in 7: 25.36 minutes). Team: Christian Keller , Stefan Pohl , Lars Conrad and Michael Kiedel. The teams from the Netherlands and Italy placed in front of Germany had both been disqualified.
- EM 2000 in Helsinki : silver in 7: 18.96 minutes behind Italy (gold in 7: 16.52 minutes) and ahead of France (bronze in 7: 20.37 minutes). Team: Michael Kiedel, Christian Keller, Stefan Herbst and Stefan Pohl.
At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney , the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay came in 6th. Team: Stefan Pohl, Christian Keller, Stefan Herbst, Christian Tröger , Heiko Hell and Michael Kiedel.
