The song was also nominated for a Grammy in the category Best Song Written for Film, Television or Visual Media in 2003 and lost again to If I Didn't Have You. In 2002 it was also nominated for the OFTA Award in the category Best Original Song and lost to Come What May from Moulin Rouge . In 2001 May It Be won the Critics' Choice Award for Best Song.

In Germany, Enya went straight to number 1 with May It Be on January 28, 2002. The song stayed on the charts for 15 weeks, but never returned to number one.
