Nicky Ryan
Nicky Ryan (* 1949 in Dublin ) is an Irish record producer , songwriter and musician who has received two Grammy Awards .
Career
Nicky Ryan was born in Dublin in 1949 and worked as a teacher outside Dublin at St Mary's School For Deaf Girls before entering the music business. Ryan's career in the music business began working as a technician for national musicians in the 1970s, making contact with Gary Moore and accompanying him on his tour as a technician. Subsequently, he was responsible for the band Clannad as a manager , whereby he was also responsible as a music producer for the album Dúlamán . Through his work he became aware of the youngest sister of a band member, Eithne Pádraigín Ní Bhraonáin, who later became known as Enya . He and his wife Roma Ryan , she wrote the songs and he was responsible for the sound and music production, helped Enya achieve her breakthrough in 1988, which she achieved with her song Orinoco Flow (Sail away) . He received two Grammys for his work in the music business. He received his first award for the album A Day Without Rain at the Grammy Awards 2002 in the category "Best New Age Album". He received his second nomination for the song May It Be in the credits of The Lord of the Rings - The Companions . For this achievement he also received an Oscar nomination with Enya and his wife Roma Ryan at the 2002 Academy Awards in the category " Best Song ". The award went to Randy Newman for his song If I Didn't Have You , which was featured in the animated film Die Monster AG .
As a music producer, he also worked in the film business. He was responsible for the musical work for the films LA Story , Sleepwalker , Time of Innocence and Cry, the Beloved Country . Ryan also provided some soundtracks for films and series, such as In The First Time , Madagascar 3: Escape Through Europe and Criminal Minds .
