Paul Giallorenzo

Paul Giallorenzo (* around 1975 in New York City ) is an American jazz musician ( piano , keyboard , electronics, composition ). "Giallorenzo uses piano and electronics in a variety of contexts, from composed jazz and improvised music to electro-acoustic noise".

Live and act

Giallorenzo, who is from Long Island , moved to Evanston in 1995 to study at Northwestern University (graduated in 1999). Since then he has lived in Chicago and has worked in the local jazz scene since the 2000s. a. with Thomas Mejer , Frank Rosaly , Jason Stein , Brian Labycz , Marc Riordan and Guillermo Gregorio . In 2005 Giallorenzo recorded his debut album Get In to Go Out ( 482 Music ) with Josh Berman , Dave Rempis , Anton Hatwich and Frank Rosaly , followed by Pg3 IHF & tD (with Ingebrigt Håker Flaten and Tim Daisy , Not Two Records , 2012).

With the sextet Paul Giallorenzo's GitGo (Anton Hatwich, Jeb Bishop , Marc Riordan , Mars Williams , Quin Kirchner ) he presented the productions Emergent ( Leo Records , 2012) and Force Majeure ( Delmark Records , 2014). With his trio album Flow he made reference to the Chicogo jazz scene of the 1950s, borrowing from Sun Ra , Herbie Nichols , Elmo Hope and Ahmad Jamal . Giallorenzo teaches music at the Old Town School of Folk Music and is the co-founder and director of the nonprofit Elastic Arts , which has an event venue in Logan Square.
