Michael Kopf (born October 10, 1957 ) is an Austrian football coach .

Career

As a player

Kopf played as an active player for SCR Altach , SC Austria Lustenau and in Switzerland for FC Widnau .

As a trainer

Kopf initially trained a club from Feldkirch and later also the Swiss club FC Mels . After that he also worked for the LFV and the Grasshopper Club Zurich .

In summer 2012 he became a trainer at AKA Tirol , where he trained until 2013. In June 2014 he became the coach of the Swiss fifth division team Chur 97 . In October 2014, Kopf von Chur was released.

In August 2015 he returned to Austria, where he took over the coaching position at the fifth-class SV Reutte . During the winter break of the 2015/16 season, however, he moved to Switzerland, where he was coach of FC Wängi . He looked after the club until relegation to the third division at the end of the season. He then became a youth coach at FC Rapperswil-Jona .

For the 2017/18 season he returned to Austria, where he coached the amateurs of SC Austria Lustenau . In November 2017 he became part of the head coaching team around Gernot Plassnegger , as he has the coaching license required for the second highest division . Kopf received a permanent contract. In February 2018 he left Lustenau and became a talent manager at the Swiss first division club FC St. Gallen .
