Michael Krämer (theologian)

Michael Krämer SDB (born January 3, 1923 in Krnjaja ; † December 11, 2016 in Benediktbeuern ) was a German religious and Roman Catholic New Testament scholar .

Life

After attending grammar school in Zagreb, the Danube German entered the Croatian order of the Salesians of Don Bosco. He made the first religious profession on October 12, 1941. Several years in communist prisons interrupted his theology studies. He was only allowed to leave Yugoslavia for Germany in 1953. After completing his theological studies in Turin, he was ordained a priest on August 5, 1956 in the Archabbey of St. Ottilien . This was followed by special studies at the Pontificio Istituto Biblico in Rome , where he received his doctorate in re biblica in 1968 . From 1960 until his retirement in 1989 he taught the New Testament (at times also the Old Testament) at the PTH Benediktbeuern . For years he was a spokesperson for Radio Horeb . At times he worked as a pastor in Sindelsdorf , as a chaplain in Benediktbeuern and as an assistant chaplain in Schöffau and Seehausen am Staffelsee . For twelve years he was pastorally active in the Hochried children's recreation home near Murnau am Staffelsee . His research focus was the synoptic problem .
