Michael Lutz (born January 25, 1982 in Nördlingen ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper . The right-footer last played at TSV 1861 Nördlingen .

Career

Lutz began his football career at FSV Reimlingen before moving to the youth department of FC Augsburg and playing there up to the U-19s. For the 2001/02 season he was appointed to the men's team, which was represented in the then fourth-class Oberliga Bayern , and celebrated with this promotion to the Regionalliga Süd . But after he did not get beyond a role as a substitute keeper, he joined the Bayernliga relegated MTV Ingolstadt in July 2002 . After two years, however, the club stopped playing for adults. Together with ESV Ingolstadt , a new club called FC Ingolstadt 04 was founded, which took over the license from MTV and completed its first year of play in the Bayern League. Lutz was taken over into the squad of the newly created FCI and played his first game for the "Schanzer" on matchday 19 against TSV Großbardorf (3: 1). In the last game of the season - also a 3-1 win against Großbardorf - he was used again.

In the following season Michael Lutz went as number one for Ingolstadt and played all 17 games of the first half of the season, but only four times he was free. In the first round of the DFB Cup , the young goalkeeper and the FCI also showed themselves at national level for the first time. Despite a saved penalty from Lutz, the "Schanzer" had to admit defeat to the second division 1. FC Saarbrücken 5-6 on penalties. In the back series, Lutz had to give up his regular place in goal to Marco Sejna, who was obliged during the winter break, and did not play any more. Nevertheless, FC Ingolstadt was able to celebrate promotion to the Regionalliga Süd in summer 2006 .

In 2006/07 Lutz regained his number one status and now pushed Sejna to the bank. In 32 games he did not concede a goal 13 times, had to accept a total of only 38 goals and was thus significantly involved in fifth place in the table for the promoted team. In the following season he then played all 34 games, was again 13 times to zero and only had to reach behind 36 times. Finally, the runner-up and promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga , whereupon his contract was extended by two years.

Lutz was also the goalkeeper of Ingolstadt in the second division and only missed two games, but the team was relegated straight away and the goalkeeper was defeated 53 times. In the DFB Cup, too, they were eliminated in round one against Hamburger SV .

During the following third division season he lost his number one status towards the end of the season back to Marco Sejna . For the second team of the FCI he played three games in the Bayern League. Even after being promoted again in 2010, Lutz remained a substitute goalkeeper and never played a game for the FCI.

For the 2011/12 season, the regional league promoted SV Waldhof Mannheim signed the goalkeeper and gave him a contract until June 30, 2012, which was not extended at the end of the season. He then joined the BC Aichach from the Bayern League South . In 2014 he moved to TSV 1896 Rain on a free transfer . After Lutz was temporarily without a club, TSV 1861 Nördlingen managed to sign the goalkeeper for one season. Michael Lutz ended his career in 2017.
