Michael Mücke

Michael Mücke (born June 5, 1953 in Warnemünde ) is a German volleyball coach.

biography

Mücke started playing in 1968 at his hometown club Motor Warnemünde. In 1976 he was sentenced to a year and a half imprisonment after a failed escape from the GDR . He then came to Hamburg in 1978. He played for Hamburger SV for eight years and acquired his coaching license at the same time. In addition to Hamburger SV, he coached Eimsbüttel and the women's second division club SC Langenhorn . In 1994 he moved to Post Telekom Berlin . Two years later he went to Dürener TV , which had been promoted to the Bundesliga the previous year. With Mücke, the club managed to stay out of the league three times in a row. The Düren fan club gave itself the name "Mosquitos" in reference to the coach's last name. In 1999 Mücke moved to local rivals SV Bayer Wuppertal , whom he established in the top tier of the Bundesliga. In 2003 his contract ended despite the second runner-up. In January 2004 Mücke took over the currently unsuccessful newcomer VC Markranstädt . When the club merged with the neighbor from Leipzig in 2006, he became the coach of the new VC Leipzig . In 2008 he received a new job at the promoted TSV Giesen / Hildesheim , which ended after one season because the relegation failed. In February 2010, Mücke became a coach at VC Bad Dürrenberg / Spergau because his predecessor fell ill. In the following season, the team played in the relegation round of the Bundesliga. In 2012 Mücke returned to Düren and took over evivo Düren (now SWD Powervolleys Düren ) for the second time . In the 2012/13 season, his team was sixth in the Bundesliga main round in the playoff quarter-finals and made it to the semifinals of the DVV Cup . A year later, Düren rose to fifth place in the Bundesliga with Mücke . In the 2014/15 Bundesliga season , the SWD Powervolleys are third in the playoff semi-finals with Mücke; in the DVV Cup they were defeated in the semi-finals. At the end of March 2015, the association announced that the expiring contract with Mücke would not be extended.
