history

The volleyball club was founded on March 28, 2000 as VC Bad Dürrenberg / Spergau. Before that, the volleyball players were a division of the Bad Dürrenberg Canoe Club. In addition to the Bundesliga team, the club also has two other men's teams that play in the regional league and the regional class South, as well as two women's teams that compete in the regional upper league and the regional class South.

Bundesliga

In 2007, he was promoted to the first division, in which the newcomer finished ninth. The Sachsen-Anhalter achieved an increase in the second season with the eighth place, which enabled them to participate in the play-offs. There they lost twice to Generali Haching . In 2009/10 and 2010/11 they missed the play-offs in tenth place. In 2011/12 they reached the quarter-finals in eighth place, in which they were eliminated without winning a set against Haching. In 2012/13 they stayed in the Bundesliga despite the defeat in the play-down against the Netzhoppers.

After relegation from the 1st Bundesliga to the lower house in the 2016/17 season, the then assistant coach Mircea Dudas was promoted to head coach. The change in personnel paid off, the "Pirates" were able to win the championship under the leadership of the new coach in all seasons in the 2. Volleyball Bundesliga.

DVV Cup

In the 2007/08 season, Bad Dürrenberger lost to Generali Haching in the round of 16 of the DVV Cup. In the last 16 of the 2008/09 season they lost at home against Moerser SC in three sets. In the 2009/10 season , the Pirates, as they also call themselves, lost 3-0 in the same round at VfB Friedrichshafen .
