Michael Meuser

Michael Meuser (born October 9, 1952 in Cologne ) is a German social scientist and professor for sociology of gender relations at the Technical University of Dortmund .

Meuser studied educational science , sociology and political science at the University of Bonn , where he was awarded a Dr. phil. received his doctorate . He completed his habilitation at the University of Bremen . In 2007 he was appointed to the chair for sociology of gender relations at the Institute for Sociology at the Technical University of Dortmund. He is Vice Dean for Research and Young Scientists. His research focuses on political sociology , the sociology of gender relations and the body, sociology of knowledge and the methods of qualitative social research .

In 2004 Meuser received the Helge Pross Prize from the University of Siegen for outstanding scientific achievements in the field of gender sociology. He is chairman of the youth policy advisory board in the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth and spokesman for the section "Sociology of the Body and Sport" in the German Society for Sociology (DGS).
