Michael Ruhe (born April 3, 1980 in Rinteln ) is a former German rower who was vice world champion with the eighth in 2002 .

Athletic career

Michael Ruhe from RV Weser Hameln was the 1997 junior world champion in two-man with a helmsman . At the Junior World Championships in 1998, he finished second with eighth. In 1999 he won the silver medal at the U23 World Championships with eighth place, and in 2000 he won the eighth place. From 2001 to 2004 Michael Ruhe was the batsman of the Germany eight . At the 2001 World Championships , the boat with Sebastian Schulte , Thorsten Engelmann , Johannes Doberschütz , Stephan Koltzk , Jörg Dießner , Enrico Schnabel , Ulf Siemes , Michael Ruhe and helmsman Peter Thiede took third place behind the aft from Romania and Croatia. The following year, the Germany eight in the same line-up won the silver medal behind the Canadians at the World Championships in Seville . In the 2003 Rowing World Cup , the Germany eight won the first two regattas and came second in Lucerne. At the world championships , the boat reached the finals with difficulty and took sixth place there. At the 2004 Olympics , the Germany eight finished fourth, four seconds behind the bronze. Michael Ruhe achieved his last international final placement at the 2007 World Championships as fifth in a two-man with helmsman.

The two-meter man was German champion in eighth place in 2001, 2003 and 2004.
