Michael Sarin (born September 20, 1965 in Stockton , California ) is an American jazz drummer.

Sarin, who took private drum lessons with Dave Coleman Sr. in his hometown with friend Andrew Drury , became known as the drummer of Thomas Chapin's trio . He came to New York with the group in 1991 to record the album Anima and was involved in all of the trio's recordings until his departure in 1998. He also worked regularly with bassists Mark Dresser and Drew Gress , pianist Myra Melford , violinist Mark Feldman and guitarist Brad Shepik . In 1999 he performed with Dave Douglas at the Donaueschinger Musiktage . He was also a member of the groups of Michael Blake , John Zorn and Mario Pavone . Sarin's discography as a sideman includes more than eighty albums.
