Michael Schlecht (born June 25, 1951 in Hildesheim ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ).

Michael Schlecht grew up in Hamburg . After secondary school, he trained as a printer. He then went on to study printing engineering and economics in Berlin . From 1980 he worked in Stuttgart at IG Druck und Papier - from 1989 IG Medien . In 2001 he became chief economist at ver.di in Berlin.

Schlecht joined the SPD in 1982 . At the beginning of the eighties he took part in an attempt to found the "Democratic Socialists" (DS), a party to the left of the Social Democrats, which failed, however. Schlecht then returned to the SPD, which he left in 2005 out of opposition to the “ Agenda 2010 ” policy . Then he moved to WASG , where he was elected to the federal board the following year. In 2007 he became a member of the executive committee of the Left . In the 2009 Bundestag election , Schlecht ran in the Mannheim constituency and was elected as a member of the German Bundestag via the Baden-Württemberg state list .

MEP Schlecht was a member of the Left Party. in the 17th German Bundestag. Within the group he held the position of chief economist. He was a full member of the Committee on Economics and Technology.
